his wine is a classic example of warmer Russian River Valley Pinot. Big texture and dark fruit with an earthiness to balance out the concentrated fruit. This wine has been a fun to watch as it develops. Like an ornery toddler, I loved this wine at times, and I wanted to pull my hair out at others. But once the final foil was spun down, I think this is a great example of what Russian River Valley Pinot should be!
Gold: San Francisco International, 2018
If there is one thing we know for sure, Russian River Valley Pinot Noir typically offers lush cherry, strawberry, and blackberry aromas and flavors with that notable spice, oak, and earthiness that we love from this location and varietal! This is a versatile, food-friendly wine that pairs elegantly with mild sausages and oily fish like wild salmon, pork and lamb. Also, try with firm cheeses such as aged cheddar, Gouda, and Gruyere and yummy fruit-based jams and chutneys with mushrooms. We particularly love quince with a beef tenderloin and delicate, ultra creamy mash potatoes! Enjoy this wine to it's fullest this holiday season.
