The heat we had early in the 2017 Harvest season led to brighter flavors of lemon zest and asian pear. It also led to a higher phenolic profile, which will give the wine a little darker color and texture. It also will give it some additional ageability. I am still dialing in our barrel program for this wine, but I think we are getting very close to getting it where we want it. Neutral and New Oak fermentation on this wine give it good mid-palate. Though we certainly faced challenges with the 2017 Harvest, this wine turned out lovely!
Our eastern facing Roussanne vines are nestled in stone-strewn soils on steep terrain and thrive in the warm Mediterranean days, and cool, ocean-influenced nights. The resulting wine showcases the beautiful Dry Creek profile that makes us feel blessed to call this valley home. We love the green tea, Asian pear, and honeydew aromatics; the citrus, butterscotch and honeycomb flavors; and the finish that is layered with subtle vanilla and hints of baking spice. Enjoy this elegant wine for all seasons.
